Peter Bogdanovich recalls how Tatum O'Neal was chosen to play Addie, and discusses Alvin Sargent's script, the shooting of select sequences in Kansas, the title of the film (which was enthusiastically endorsed by Orson Welles), etc. Also included are comments from production designer Polly Platt and associate producer Frank Marshall.

Will Stanton, drunken host at his own dull dinner party, decides to leave his guests and go out to make whoopee. At a local night club, emcee Eddie Dunn introduces singer Dorothy Granger. Her singing inspires not a single reaction. The dead atmosphere is livened up when Stanton shows up and starts mussing up everybody's hair. It catches on and soon patrons are mussing each other's hair. Stanton goes into the washroom and drunkenly washes two hands - one his and one the attendant's. He takes a bottle of soap back to the dance floor and pours it out, causing all the dancers to fall on their ..well, to fall down. A seltzer spray melee follows and Stanton decides to go home. His dull wife asks Stanton to tell his dull guests if he learned anything out on the town. Stanton picks up a bottle of seltzer and starts spritzing.

The DuPont Show of the Week is an American anthology drama series which aired for three seasons on NBC from September 17, 1961 to August 30, 1964.

Dick Romans is a washed up TV host whose wife walks out on him the day before their ten year anniversary celebration. Alone with his thoughts, his dog, and a ton of booze, Dick decides to go through with the week-long party... by himself. The seven event-filled days become Dick's reluctant vision quest, filled with odd characters, awkward romance, and some long-overdue self examination.

"The Week" tells the story, as the title suggests, of seven days. Each day has its own main character which is named after the day. There are seven different stories which are not connected to each other. Montag (Monday) is a young, hopeless man without a job. This monday he saves a woman from being raped... Dienstag (Tuesday) wants to run away from our hectic, commercial world and tries to find his way in the woods... Mittwoch (Wednesday) is a drug dealer who wants to do his last job... Donnerstag (Thursday) is homeless and lives on the street. All his hope is gone until a girl comes by... Freitag (Friday) works in a movie theater and secretly loves her co-worker Peter... Samstag (Saturday) is left by his girlfriend Gianna and now for the first time realizes how much he has loved her... Sonntag (Sunday) tells us what happened to the remaining characters and draws a conclusion...
